Unlock The Secrets Of Using Window Markers: 7 Top Tips

So you want to use window markers to create a cathedral-esque masterpiece but you failed art at school and even your stick men look wobbly. Well we feel your pain, which is why we’ve collated some top tips to help you design and decorate your glass like a pro.

Your 7 top tips:

1) Choose a theme – It’s easy to get carried away with your window markers, they’re just so easy to use, which is why you should choose a theme and stick to it. Draw a draft on a piece of paper in pencil and don’t deviate too much from your design!glass-pen-graph

2) Don’t make it too complicated – We get it, we really do, you want to be Picasso. But you aren’t, and you’re not going to sell your drawing for millions, so stop kidding yourself! It’s far better to make a simple design look fantastic than to try to make a complex design and end up with something mediocre.

3) Make it last – Obviously you want your artwork to last the test of time whilst still being easy to remove, that’s why you’ve chosen to use a Rainbow window marker. And, although your marker is fairly weather resistant, it will last a heck of a lot longer if it’s put inside a building. The solution is to write backwards on the inside of the glass so that everybody on the outside can enjoy your rainproof masterpiece.

4) Drawing things backwards – It’s all very well saying write it backwards but actually doing it can prove tricky. The top tip here is to print out the design on a piece of paper, either on your computer or drawn by hand in thick pen. Then, stick the paper on the front of your glass in the exact position you want it. When you look through the other side you will see the design/words backwards and they will be easy to trace.

5) Keep track – Regularly check to see what your artwork looks like from the other side of the glass. This will ensure you don’t get to the end and realise you have to start everything again because your entire project is wonky.

6) Have a bowl of water and cloth handy – Simple yet effective. If you muck up then you can just wipe away the error with a damp corner of the cloth and dry the glass with another corner. The Rainbow glass markers are water based so they won’t stain your clothes but it will save your washing machine.

7) Use the right tools – There are many different ways you can write on glass but, for our money, there’s no substitute for a Rainbow Glass Pen. The easier and more familiar your tool is to you, the better results you can achieve. If you use glass paint you’ll need paintbrushes. Why use a tool you’ve probably picked up less than 20 times in your life? You’ve held and used a pen since before you can remember, keep it easy.
