Load, Aim and Fire; Transforming Grubby Grout!

Grubby grout is a problem. Tiles and grout get mouldy and dirty over time, turning a spectacular bathroom into a mucky, unclean environment that looks horrible. So horrible, in fact, it can turn your morning shower from enjoyable to loathsome…

Eeww, I’m sure we can all agree the grout in the picture is loathsome! The problem is not uncommon, but just how easy is the solution?

There seems to be some confusion on the internet. One Mumsnet contributor struggled for a solution that didn’t involve lots of scrubbing.

Using a bicarb and bleach paste put on with a toothbrush and scrubbed off with a wire scourer. The grout is now kind of light grubby grey rather than black, and the embossed tiles themselves look much better, but I want the grout WHITE dammit…

So while an internet recipe can get the tiles clean the grout is left filthy. The solution is actually straightforward. All you need is your trusty Rainbow grout pen and implementation of the following three simple steps.

1. Load

First, prime your pen. Pump the nib until the ink flows. This can take some time, as many as twenty or so pumps, don’t give up…

2. Aim

Locate the trouble spots. This part is even easier because these are the mucky bits of grout that have been bothering you for months.

3. Fire

Okay, there’s no firing as such… just pen strokes. Simply paint the ink over the offending grout. No scrubbing or scraping of grout.
Each of our pens has enough ink to cover about 60m of grout. Whether that is sufficient to cover ALL the offending grout depends on how much grubby grout you have and the tiling itself. Larger tiles use less grout, overall than smaller tiles.

Is one pen enough to rid me of grubby grout?

We cannot guarantee that one pen will be enough. It all depends…

Let’s say your tiled shower area has become grubby and mouldy. Cleaning it down will remove the mouldy muck from the tiles, or if it is really bad you can use the paste recipe above, borrowed from the Mumsnet contributor. This will leave the grout ready for the Rainbow pen load, aim and fire procedure.

The pen will cover 60m of grout but how much wall area this equates to depends on the thickness of the grout joint – space between tiles – and the size of the tiles. Thick grout joint and mosaic tiles will need far more coverage than a narrow grout joint and large tile combination.

So you will just have to give it a try.

One thing we can guarantee though. Your grout will look fantastic, your bathroom will sparkle and so your morning shower will be way more enjoyable.

Hello sparkling grout and enjoyable morning showers

So all you need to do now is order your Rainbow grout pen and then to load, aim and fire at that grubby grout. You’ll be overjoyed you did!
